Wenatchee - Discover the Apple Capital of the World

 

Wenatchee is the biggest city in Chelan County, in the state of Washington. Wenatchee is located picturesquely between the Columbia and Wenatchee rivers.

Get to know the wonderful area of Wenatchee by hiking and walking around some of the parks. Don't miss the Apple Capital Recreational Loop trail that goes along Columbia River. Go to the walking bridge - the Old Wenatchee-East Wenatchee Bridge - to see the border between both parts of the city. Other than hiking and walking around, fishing, hunting and boating are great options while in Wenatchee. It's also a great chance to try some kayaking, water-skiing, rafting, and windsurfing, or sledding and snowmobiling in the colder months. The best spots for winter sports are Mission Ridge, the Methow Valley and the State Park of Squilchuck.

Another great fact about Wenatchee is that it receives nearly 300 days of sunshine, though this is not an obstacle for the great winter sport opportunities. The city is often called the Apple Capital of the World because of the vast fields with apple trees that add some special charm to Wenatchee.

The blooming of the orchards is a traditional feast here, so just a hint when to visit it. In the last week of April the Washington State Apple Blossom Festival takes over the cultural calendar of Wenatchee with many carnivals, tournaments, fairs and live performances. To be sure, it won't be something you would like to miss.

While in Wenatchee visit ghe Valley Museum and the cultural center to learn more about the life, traditions and development in the area. You will be able to witness some historical artifacts from more than 10 000 years ago.

Another place worth visiting is the Ohme Gardens, which will enchant you with its numerous waterfalls and paths that lead you to some spectacular views.
