St. Petersburg is a city in Florida that is famous for being a favourite vacation destination for foreign and American tourists.

St. Petersburg is located on a peninsula near Tampa Bay. Three hundred and sixty days of the year, the weather here is splendid. St. Petersburg is often called the Sunny City. It was established in the late 19th century by John William and Peter Demense who was Russian. It was his origins that the city the name St. Petersburg, as it is the former capital of Demense's homeland. Vacationers once had to board a flight to get to St. Petersburg, but it is now connected by bridge to Tampa, and St. Petersburg has become an even more popular spot for relaxation.

The place is extremely good for family vacations as well as for simple fun and exploring, as the city has so much to offer.

The ultimate place you shouldn't miss is the Salvador Dali Museum that has some works of the famous artist. Also go to Sunken Gardens, which is the oasis of St. Petersburg. Here you will find an amazing collection of species. You can bring your children to the Great Exploration Museum. The unique complex consists of an exhibition of a whole children's city, with a mini fire station and shops, too.

Another pleasure for both them and yourself will be visiting the local aquarium, which is inhabited by various species and the dolphins that live in the area. Go to Fort DeSoto Park where you can fish, camp and relax on beaches that are untouched and aren't crowded.   

Visit the Florida Holocaust Museum and the Chihuly Collection that features some of the most amazing glass artifacts of Dale Chihuly. One of St. Petersburg landmark's is the Don Cesar Hotel which is one of the oldest and most significant buildings.

St. Petersburg offers plenty of interesting events such as the Art Walk, First Friday, Saint Petersburg Times Festival of Reading, Jannus Landing and Tampa Bay's Segs.

Your tour around St. Petersburg won't be complete unless you take a walk on the Baywalk and feel the beating heart of the place.
