Silver Star - the genuine spirit of the West Silver Star is a town in the American state of Montana. Located in a picturesque area along the Jefferson River and at the foot of the Tobacco Root Mountains, Silver Star is one extraordinary place for a vacation. Being one of the oldest cities in this part of Montana and often referred to as "Gold West Country", the town still keeps the spirit of the time when the first mine called "Silver star" was established here. According to local stories, Prince Edward, son of Queen Victoria visited the place in the late 19th century, which they consider a blessing. In the early 19th century Lewis and Clark camped in the area of Silver Star during their trip searching for a waterway to the Pacific Ocean. Their route is now the famous Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail that passes through Silver Star and you can join the adventure along the Jefferson River. Even though Silver Star is a small town, the area is quite spectacular and rich in activities. You can bike, camp, fish, golf, hike, ride horses and hunt in the Tobacco Root Mountains. There are various activities along the Jefferson River as well as ranch experience if you would like to feel the old West spirit of America. Some of the most attractive sites to explore are the ghost towns in the area. Most of them have kept the original buildings - and most importantly - the true atmosphere of the Wild West. They are currently a great tourist attraction. Some of the most famous are Bannack and Nevada City but the less known like Comet, Coolidge, Farlin and Garnet also offer unique experiences. Travel back in time to the American era of gold diggers and cowboys by visiting Silver Star!
