Vacation Rentals Seacoast New HampshireSeacoast New Hampshire
From Portsmouth to The Border of Maine An 18 mile long stretch of shoreline of the New Hampshire coast known around the states as the seacoast is one of the best places to go for a rugged and freeing vacation. It's not really your average beach destination as the only sand beaches it has are the ones that are man made form jetties or groins. Most of the Seacoast is made of rough nature and rocky terrain, that does not stop people from exploring the nooks and crannies of the interesting coast though, it actually attracts many that want to see the sharp contrast of primitive bush against the deep blue waters of the Atlantic. The Seacoast runs from Portsmouth to the border of Maine, within that short distance the coast encompasses seven cities and several small villages. The great making a stay on the Seacoast is having such access to all the attractions of the coast. Your vacation then just depends on where you want to stay while on the coast, which city best suit your tastes. The town of Dover on the coast is a great place for history buffs as the city was first founded in 1623, making the 7th oldest city in the United States. The history of the town is easily discovered and many tales and legends fill the air. Museums dedicated to the early settlers will help to educate visitors on the initial way of life for the early inhabitants of the town. The New Hampshire Children's Museum is based in Dover as well, kids can partake in many interactive exhibits that are educational and fun at the same time. Exeter, a town also found on the seacoast is rather small, not having much size at all but it is home to a secondary school that was built back in 1781. The school still operates today and hosts music concerts quite frequently. The concerts are always free and open to the public. The Loka Theater has some great concerts too and is also where the film festival takes place. One of the bigger towns on the coast, is the city of Hampton, the town has many things to do including festivals, pageants and even a few theme park like attractions. Hampton is where the majority of tourists end up staying mainly due to its commercialization. There is always something to do in the town of Hampton but for those who like a less publicized escape it is not for you. The most prominent town on the coast is Portsmouth, its fame extends to the farthest reaches of the country, mainly due to the fact that it is the 3rd oldest city in America. History is the main endeavor that draws the masses as well as with impeccable beauty of the beaches. Portsmouth gives visitors a taste of everything from nature to wild night scenes, the town brings it all to the table for its visitors. Portsmouth is by far the most diverse city on the Seacoast. The Seacoast also houses the city of Somersworth, Rollinsford and Rochester. These three towns are all quite small but each has their own natural beauty and pristine landscapes for visitors to admire. Accommodations in all the small towns can be found ranging from grand in nature to small inns. Staying in one of the quaint towns will be a great choice for those who like quiet atmospheres away from the commercial. Each of these small towns on the seacoast has their own special cultures and way of life. It is an adventure in itself just to explore the tiny village cultures and take part in their different ways of life.
