Sammamish is a suburb of Seattle in Washington State. Famous for its perfect living conditions, Sammamish has been named 15th of the best places to live in the USA.

Its superb location on the Lake Sammamish makes for diverse recreation options. From hiking trails to exploring the picturesque forest to water-skiing and boating, Sammamish has it all. For all residents of Seattle, Sammamish is one of their favourite places to have a barbeque, walk around and enjoy life. Swimming, jet skiing and sailing on the weekends can't be something you would mind.

Lake Sammamish is 11 kilometres long and 2 kilometres wide with an acreage of 21 kilometres square. The lake offers perfect options for wake boarding, tubing, surfing, jet skiing, and rowing as well as various paths to hike. It is surrounded by the Lake Sammamish State Park, Marymoor Park and the East Lake Sammamish Trail.

The Lake Sammamish State Park features more than 500 acres of magnificent wilderness. Except for the pristine beauty of Mother Nature, the site was significant for Indian tribes who used to inhabit the area. It is one of the greatest places to fish for salmon and see blue heron. The incredible wetlands with its vibrant wildlife make it the perfect place for nature-lovers. Here you can also picnic with your family or enjoy one of the biggest freshwater beaches of Seattle. The best beaches and fishing places are located in the area of Issaquah Creek. Head to Tibbets and Sunset Beach where swimming is available. The place is known for its diverse water activities, but the most popular are water-skiing and boating. The East Lake Sammamish Trail is 18 kilometres long, and it is one of the most popular and scenic in the Lake Sammamish State Park.

One great option for recreation in the area of Sammamish is the Beaver Lake Park just a few miles away. The park features 50 acres at the southern part of the Beaver Lake. There are several sports fields, picnic areas and numerous hiking trails. The sandy beach of Beaver Lake is superb for canoeing, swimming and fishing.

Ebright Creek Park is also nice place to enjoy your Sammamish vacation. However, it is more like an activity park rather than a natural one. There are sports fields for street hockey, handball and tennis. It features great facilities for children to play on, as well as picnic tables. Just in front of Ebright Creek Park you can try your luck at catching Coho and Sockeye salmon and rainbow trout.

Pine Lake Park is also located in the area of Sammamish. It is yet another place for great beach time, fishing and recreation. The park hosts interesting cultural events, such as Summer Nights in the Park and Shakespeare in the Park.
