Puget Sound - nature's beauty, America's history and your best vacation destination

Puget Sound is a strait in the American state of Washington. Located to the east of Admiralty Inlet through which the Pacific Ocean reaches inland. Puget Sound is a system of inlets, estuaries, embayment, islands and channels. Surrounded by the amazing Cascade Mountains and full of gorgeous islands such as Whidbey and San Juan, Puget Sound is one great place for a vacation all year-round.

Puget Sound is what every vacationer desires. There are large cities, small villages, and great areas for hiking, exploring, kayaking, and boating. There are also amazing romantic getaways and some of the best resorts in the country can be found on Puget Sound. It is really magical how this area can satisfy all kinds of tastes - from those who simply desire to connect with nature to those in need of some adrenaline as well as those looking for the life of luxury. One of the most amazing places in Puget Sound is the Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve. This historical preserve features the rural life of Whidbey islands and it covers more than 17,000 acres.  With its nearly 20 farms, nearly 400 historical sites, beautiful shoreline and exciting trails, this park really deserves your attention. One of the main attractions here is the Jacob Ebey House, whose former owner the park is named after. Here you can feel life as it was two centuries ago; you can relax and enjoy the scenic Olympic Mountains and the Strait of San de Fuca.

After that, you should visit the Klondlike Gold Rush National Park. It is dedicated to the Klondlike Gold Rush that occurred in the late 19th century. This park features territory of both USA and Canada as the story behind the specific era wouldn't be whole. While here, don't miss the Skagway Unit where most of the buildings are historic and you can feel as if you were part of the Gold Rush period. You can hike the incredible Chilkoot and White Pass trails for a genuine exploration of the district.
Another interesting preserve is the Mount Rainier National Park, which features an active volcano and really spectacular snow-covered areas and glaciers. You can also explore the rainforest and take the Wonderland trail, feel the environment as you climb Mount Rainier, enjoy yourself and memorize every glimpse of these striking views. From waterfalls to meadows with wild flowers, deep forests and a volcano, this is not a boring combination for touring.

If you are into hiking, one of the best places to do so is the Big Four Ice Caves. But prepare yourself for the glaciers, which cover the area throughout the whole year. While in the area of Puget Sound, go to the San Juan Islands where you can sail, fish, scuba dive, hike, dive, bike and explore stunning vistas and spectacular sunsets. The islands are famous for the best opportunities for bird watching, sea-kayaking and orca whale watching.

Some of the best parks for recreation are Priest Point, Tolmie, Point Defiance and Steilacoom Park.  And there are the beaches - Nisqually, Tolmie and Steilacoom - to check out. You shouldn't miss the Beach at Point Defiance Park where you can boat, fish, picnic and sunbathe on the scenic waterfront.     

In the area of Puget Sound, you can explore so much more - from museums to galleries, from aquariums to zoos. This place has it all! Some tips of which places aren't to be missed: The Fort Nisqually Living History Museum is where the first Europeans have settled in the 17th century and other than the original historical buildings, you can dive into the authentic atmosphere as there are people clothed and performing duties as if it is the 1680s; head also to the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, the Washington State History Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, Johnson Farm Museum on Anderson Island, Harold LeMay Museum and the Maritime Museum.

We advise you to save the best for last. Have a ferry ride and just contemplate: Olympic National Park, the Cascade Mountains and Mount Rainier are only a few of the natural masterpieces you will see while gliding through the waters.
