Panama City Beach

Just Try to Resist the Temptations of Panama City Beach

Vacation Homes Panama City BeachPanama City Beach is an attractive tourist destination, well known to the residents of the southern United States. Located on the Gulf of Mexico, in Bay County in the northwest regions of Florida, Panama City Beach is separate from the larger inland city - Panama City. Its one-of-a-kind white-sanded beaches and crystal waters have won it acclaim as one of "The World's Most Beautiful Beaches". Indeed, Panama City Beach is one of the most popular beach resorts in the whole world. There are many vacationers who are enchanted by the beauty of the place, by the rich variety of sports activities, by the fishing and the scuba diving, by the soft white sand and by the vibrant nightlife. Parties never cease in Panama City Beach. The beach resort doesn't disappoint in terms of entertainment options - there are tons of choices for fun in the Florida Panhandle.

Panama City Beach has approximately 9,500 permanent residents, whereas the whole Bay County has about 150,000 people. Since the establishment of the city, Panama City Beach has had a stable economy, mainly depending on its own resources.

Panama City Beach is predominantly comprised of quartz crystals, which have been bleached, polished and naturally banked up on the shoreline over the course of the years.

One of the most brightly shining jewels in the city is the St. Andrews State Recreation Area, which is simultaneously one of the most famous and most popular outdoor recreation places in Florida. The recreation area is blessed with a mile and a half long beach strip, with powder-like sands, gorgeous dunes and azure waters. In 1995, Dr. Stephen Leatherman proclaimed the area the "Number One Beach in America". Opening its “doors” to the public in 1951, presently, the area spreads across 1,200 acres. The region used to be part of the St. Andrews Sound Military Reservation during World War Two, and the military platforms can still be spotted near the jetties. St. Andrews State Park boasts more than 1,200 acres of beaches, scenic trails, pinewoods and swamps to explore.

Panama City Beach is a proud and welcoming host for numerous festivals and artistic events. If you happen to be in Panama City Beach in October, you should not miss visiting the Indian Summer Festival, carried out every year at the Frank Brown Park. The festival lasts for three days - that's three days devoted to music performances, art displays, all kinds of entertainment and fresh local seafood.

Bay county and all the cities and communities scattered across it, boast a rich historical background, which is often celebrated during the annual feasts. St. Andrew Bay, for example, used to be the home for a great number of Indians. Pirates also found a natural shelter in the deep pockets of the Bay, waiting for heavily laden ships on their way from Mexico to Spain. Local legend has it that pirates buried much of their treasures on Shell Island, at Spanish Shanty Point.

Panama City Beach and the surrounding areas allow you to choose between 37 parks, offering a rich palette of outdoor activities such as: golfing, tennis, a wonderful network of hiking and biking itineraries, places designated for picnics, swimming, boating, fishing and more. St. Andrews Bay has a naturally protected harbour, where you can rent a charter boat for deep-sea fishing.

We should not underestimate the endless options for shopping and dining. Pleasant restaurants will serve you unique, fresh seafood specialties, or you can enjoy a warm beverage cafes or coffee shops after a long and exhausting day spent shopping.
If you have chosen Panama City Beach for your family fun vacation, beachside amusement and water parks await your family, just few minutes away from the city, tempting you with golf courses, gift shops, arcades and much, much more.
