Pacific Beach

Pacific Beach will Give You an Unforgettable Pacific Ocean Experience

Vacation Homes Pacific Beach Vacation Rentals Situated 18 miles away from Oceans Shores, right on the shores of the Pacific Ocean in Washington State, Pacific Beach is a peaceful coastal hamlet. The strategic location makes it a convenient stop or a place to stay on your way to Lake Quinault, Ocean Shores or Kalaloch, where you can indulge in great shopping or dining and amusing activities with the whole family.

Currently, Pacific Beach has a population of about 500 residents but there are thousands of tourists who enjoy the attractions and the scenic beauty of the small community annually. Spreading over 10 acres, and bragging more than 2,000 feet of tempting ocean shoreline, the park is a lovely place for camping with its stunning panoramas, fresh air and picturesque hiking trails.

The nearby Grays Harbor County is heaven for nature lovers, and especially for bird watchers. Passionate birders from all over the country flock here to enjoy the close encounters with their feathered friends. Some prefer to stalk in Ocean Shores while others take a boat trip in search of sea bird species. More than 300 bird species find their natural shelter in the area, including: Surfbird, Wandering Tattler, Pacific Golden Plover and Sharp-tailed Sandpiper (the last two species can be spotted around the marshes and the close beaches). Ocean Shores and the adjacent region is the place where you can meet a large variety of rare birds.

The miles of sandy beaches can be best explored by horseback riding - you can rent one of the gracious horses right on the beach. Hikers will love to plan a picturesque hiking itinerary meandering through the forests and bays, and revealing stunningly beautiful panoramas of the ocean, that you will never forget.

Pacific Beach is a host for colourful cultural events, the most popular of which is organized on Labor Day Weekend every year, a tradition that has lasted for 32 years now. The community is simply celebrating its existence on the beautiful Washington coast.
Snake Rats are a unique community in the North Beach. They inhabit the nearby region from generations ago, engaged in the timber industry for decades. They held demonstrations and competitions on Sundays making an interval during Moclips-to-Pacific Beach parade, and continuing after the middle of the afternoon. Their incredible skills can be mastered only by the bravest. Simply watching them is a unique experience, which will certainly make you admire them.

Pacific Beach, together with its northern neighbour Moclips, is referred to as “the best kept secret of Washington” by the North Beach Business Association. The two-mile-long twisting strip of gorgeous beaches on the Pacific Ocean coast spans between the two towns, thirty miles on northwest of Hoquiam, and is the most attractive feature of the area. While you listen to the healing murmur of the waves crashing on the seashore, you will instantly feel relieved.

Pacific Beach started its existence as a sawmill town, but over the years never ceased being a resort destination. The first settler is believed to be Henry J. Blodget, a trapper and a hunter, who built the first home in the middle of the 1800's. He gave part of his land to his friend P. H. Roundtree, also a hunter. Roundtree's house is where the Pacific Beach Hotel is located today. The original name of the community was Joe Creek, which was changed to the present Pacific Beach in 1903 by Roundtree. In the beginning of the 20th century with the laying of the Northern Pacific Railway, Pacific Beach became a popular destination for train excursions for people from Aberdeen and Hoquiam, and even from as far as Seattle.
