Moclips - A Small Town With a Rich History Moclips is a small coastal town in the State of Washington. See the cabin where Christopher Boyce, who was convicted of spying, hid while fleeing from California. You can also see the Analyde Gap, the location of the final scene in the 'McQ'. Other activities that are available to visitors are horseback riding, kite contests and sand sculpture competitions. Camping at Pacific Beach State park is particularly enjoyable, as is hiking, sea kayaking, clamming, surfing, fishing and more. Moclips is also the home of the zany Kelper's Parade and Celebration. The first people who inhabited the area were the members of the Quinault Tribe north of Grays Harbor and the Chehails of the lower Chehails River drainage. They lived in shoreside villages, as water was important for their livelihoods. Their harvest consisted mostly of salmon. The expedition of William Clark and Meriweather Lewis in 1804 aiming to explore the frontier west of Missouri opened the floodgates for settlement. The complete history of Moclips is incredible. Visitors are encouraged to visit the Museum of the North Beach and the Quinault Indian Reservation to learn more. A long-standing tradition for local residents on Washington's beaches has always been beachcombing. Now you also have the chance to join the race to discover one of the hundreds of glass floats in beautiful shades of blue and green. For people who feel a special bond with history and culture, there are several wonderful antique shops and art galleries to visit. The activities available in Moclips include clamming, golfing, surfing and more. Ocean Shores has long stretches of public beaches where you can go for a ride on horseback. Trail riding in the woods along the shores of the bay is another pleasant activity. Kayaking is very good at Pacific Beach, too, which is easily accessible from the State Park day use area. There is plenty of fish along the entire coast, but access is particularly good at Moclips. Moclips is a small, but a very interesting town, where you and your family can enjoy yourselves with a number of fun and nontraditional activities. If you want an adventurous, exciting, mysterious and fun vacation, visit Moclips!
