Best Time to Visit
Since the climate and weather can be extremely hot to extremely cold in the Middle East, your holiday should be well planned. If you are not planning to do some water sports, you should avoid going to the Middle East in the summer months which runs from June to September. It's also too cold in Egypt and Libya in December to January. There is also an overcast weather in the rest of the region. If you go to Egypt in July or August, you would have to wake up as early as 5 am just to be able to explore the Pharaonic sites of Aswan and Luxor. That is why the best months to travel to the Middle East is in autumn and spring. That is in the months of September to November and March to May.
On the other hand, it's not advisable to go to northeast Turkey before May or after mid-October because these are the months when there is thick ice in the area. Syria and Iran should not be visited between November and March or April either.
Places to Visit
Saudi Arabia is still a wonder and quite mysterious especially to the west. From its Islam belief to its sensational stories, the country remains so up to this day. Among the most visited sites there is the Sphinx. Until now various stories about its existence are told but the real tale still remains a mystery. To some, it drives away evil spirits and to others it holds buried secrets. And so aside from it being a rare structure, actually seeing it in person is truly exciting. In Jeddah, however, you get the best of both worlds. Being the commercial capital of Saudi Arabia, shopping is great there. On the other hand, you will also witness the remains of old Jeddah in the Al-Balad district. Bustling souqs abound there and over them are the beautiful coral architectures.
Of course, the United Arab Emirates is one of the safest tourist destinations. And it is where traditional Bedouin lifestyle and customs remain while western consumerism also prevails. It would be a joy to take in the atmosphere of the heritage sites and the mountain scenery of Hatta. You can also go to the Abu Dhabi desert sands and take camel rides on a starry night. You may even enjoy diving into the waters in the gulf. If you crave for more action, you can go to bars and clubs to enjoy the mixes of DJs there until early morning. If you want to go to Lebanon, you would face several facets of Lebanon depending on where you are in Beirut. For instance, vibrant and youthful neighborhoods of Achrafiye or Gemmayzeh, what you will observe and perhaps enjoy are the parties, eating and drinking. If you are in older building all filled with bullet holes, however, you would also see the tragedy of its tumultuous past and history. But what really keep tourists coming aside from the parties are the world renowned structures and architecture. In addition to that, you have the best souk in the country in Tripoli too.
Of course, many things are written about Jerusalem both in biblical and historical literature. The Jordan of today has many things to offer though. From the past, you have the crusader castles, Roman city ruins and other biblical sites. The first of this is the river where Jesus was baptized. And there's the mountain top where Moses was said to have casted his eyes on the Promised Land.
On the other hand, Amman, the capital of Jordan, is very modern. It also boasts of a stunning backdrop from the brilliant blues of the coral-filled Gulf of Aqaba to the red desert sands of Wadi Rum.
