Maine Highlands

Maine Highlands Natures Beauty at Its Best

Vacation Homes Maine HighlandsFive beautiful states to visit: Sebasticook Valley, Katahdin,Lincoln Lakes Region,Moosehad Lake Region and Greater Bangor Region.

If you a wild life lover, then visit the Maine highlands. With a chance to see Geese, Ducks, Bears, Moose, Fox, Deer and even the Bald Eagle, Maine Highlands has it all. Whitewater fishing, rafting they will take you into the wilds. Maine Highlands is definitely for the more adventurous among us.  Fancy a bit of cross country skiing, or downhill skiing, snowboarding? Not a problem. There are hundreds of trails to explore, all clearly marked, to ensure you do not get lost. Ice fish, just like the Eskimo, mountain bike along some challenging trails. Moosehead Lake: is sat surrounded by beautiful mountains; why not travel on the Katahadin steam ship a must for any steamship enthusiast. There are many annual festivals among which are the one hundred mile dog sled race. Where better to take the kids to experience nature at its best.  Sebasticook Valley: is the Gateway to the Main Highlands region, where better for water sport, being surrounded by a body of water. Also home to Maine central Institute, the school has the Bossov School of Ballet and where many an NBA Basketball player has trained.  Lincoln Lakes Region: has fourteen beautiful lakes and surrounded by woodlands, for those who enjoy hunting this is the place to go. In July there are weekly concerts and in December the Christmas parade of lights and breakfast with Santa%u2026Who could miss that!  Katahdin: is an all season vacation, Follow the Appalachian Trail to the North end, where there is Mount Katahdin all five thousand two hundred and seventy six feet of her!  The park covers two hundred thousand acres, so you will not get to see all the streams, lakes, mountains, forests and wildlife in one trip here, which means a definite return if you want to experience the many sports, such as kayaking, fishing, hunting camping or hiking. Great Bangor Region: is a great region to stay if you would like to explore the other regions in Maine. A slightly more serene place to visit you will enjoy the many events Bangor offers. Listen to the beautiful sound of the Bangor Symphony; visit the children's museum, Bangor car show or the Artisan Market. Not forgetting the American Folk Festival at the end of summer. All the regions in the Maine Highlands of course have fine dining and a taste to suit all. The beauty is wherever you choose to visit in Maine; they are all within easy reach of each other within a few hours. The only real hard choice will be to visit which region first, for we are sure once you visit one, you will want to visit them all. It is a certainty that Maine Highlands offers the holiday maker a wide choice, be it the many sports on offer, or the natural beauty which is slowly disappearing on our planet. Maine Highlands is a holiday for one or for all the family. The images of this special still unspoiled quiet holiday will be sure to stay in your mind, even without the many photographs you are sure to take. Get the skis oiled, the fishing rods dismantled, and the kids woolly hats dug out of the bottom of the wardrobe.  When you finally managed to drag the kids away to your means of transport home, you will probably here the cries of 'are we coming back please'! With a smile you can say' we shall see, we shall see' Hopefully already planning the next trip in your head.
