Eastern Oregon

As it names indicated Eastern Oregon is the eastern part of the state of Oregon in the USA. Since this area is not officially recognized as a separate geographic entity, its boundaries are not strictly determined. So basically the region has got variable boundaries depending on the context. Some consider that the eastern part of the state consists only of the most eastern counties which are Marrow, Harney, Umatilla, Union, Wallowa, Grant and Baker. For others Eastern Oregon is everything east of the Cascade Range. In any case, the eastern area of the state of Oregon is a lovely place to visit; there are numerous recreational activities and many adventures for the visitors of this wilderness. Eastern Oregon has preserved the spirit of the Old West, if you want to experience a taste of it, you should definitely visit and explore this magnificent countryside.

Though some parts of this area are considered to be deserts, there are still a lot of beautiful sites for you to witness. In this eastern part of the US state of Oregon you will be able to visit some magnificent mountains, such as the Blue Mountains, the Strawberry Mountains, the Trout Creek Mountains, the Wallowa Mountains and more.  There are also many canyons and rivers which you can visit, the Honeycombs is one of the most popular canyons which has some interesting rock formations. There are several rivers in this area which you can visit; Grande Ronde River and Deschutes River are among them.

Surely the best time to visit the Eastern parts of Oregon is the spring season. In the early spring you will be able to enjoy the sunny and pleasant weather there, besides this you will also be able to enjoy some late spring snow and go skiing in the beautiful mountains of this area. This area is very famous for its perfect bird watching conditions, if you want to witness some beautiful and majestic bird that call this region their home you will have plenty of opportunities to do so. You are free to attend the John Scharff Migratory Bird Festival as well; this is the largest birding festival in the west part of the US.  Another activity which is common for these parts is motorcycling. There are many motorcycling paths and there are numerous events for the motor fans annually. Races around the canyons of Oregon are a regular event. Once you visit Eastern Oregon you cannot miss the authentic hand-crafted brew, which is a symbol for the spring. You should also know that Eastern Oregon is a part of the National Scenic Byways Program. This programs aims to recognize and preserve certain roads in the US which have cultural value. The beauty of the roads that spread through the eastern part of Oregon have been included in this national program because of their unique and marvelous beauty.
