Birch Bay - A Majestic Crescent-Shaped Bay

Situated in close proximity to the border with Canada, in Washington State's northern area, the small  resosrt center of Birch Bay is a traditional place for summer vacations for families both from Canada and Washington State. Birch Bay and the neighbouring Blaine are a genuine paradise for bird-lovers. Birch Bay State Park, Drayton Harbor and Blaine's Marine Park are the best birding places on the Cascade Loop of the Washington State Birding Trail. There are many viewpoints where you can catch a glimpse of the nesting eagles. The region is also home to large heron rookery, shorebirds and waterfowls in the winter, spring and autumn.
     Birch Bay State Park is spread across 194 acres, with 8,255 feet of saltwater shoreline and 14,923 feet of freshwater shoreline along Terrell Creek. The park provides marvelous panoramas of the Cascade Mountains and Canadian Gulf Islands, which also abound with archeological sites.
