Vacation Homes Rentals Annapolis RentalsAnnapolis and Anne Arundel County, Maryland are famous for being America's Sailing Capital. Among the attractions are the U.S. Naval Academy, the Chesapeake Bay and the local specialties - steamed crabs and crab cakes. Annapolis is a curious blend of small town appeal and cosmopolitan ambiance. The city is situated on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay.

A seaport town that ascended in importance during the 18th century, Annapolis has abundant examples of Colonial architecture,. More than just a tourist town, Annapolis is also Maryland's Capitol. In fact, no other city in the United States has so many 18th century buildings. As the academic year starts, more than 4,000 midshipmen enroll in the U.S. Naval Academy; we highly recommend a stroll around this National Historic Landmark campus. Those who are nature lovers should indulge in exploring some of the 500 miles of shoreline and the lighthouses scattered along the Chesapeake Bay.

As the largest estuary in the U.S., the historically significant Chesapeake Bay offers many fun options for the whole family, such as sailing, boating, fishing, and sightseeing. The beautiful scenery will mollify your soul while you watch the passing boats furrowing the surface of the vast blue bay. "The National Geographic Adventure" magazine placed Annapolis high in the ranking of the Top Waterfront towns in the country.

Annapolis's lifestyle involves the excitement of the big city. It is a city that pulses to its own beat, and the surrounding waters dictate the personality of the city and its citizens, making the atmosphere relaxed and sophisticated at the same time. A stroll through downtown will introduce you to the tempting shops and one-of-a-kind boutiques, historic sites, and refined restaurants serving the world-famous steamed crabs.

Annapolis has been Maryland's capital since 1694, its charm preserved  of the narrow old-fashioned streets, making it one of the most captivating small U.S. cities. There are many late-18th-century brick buildings, some of which are decorated with elaborated woodcarvings. The Maryland State House built in 1779, which used to serve as the capitol from 1783 -1784, is still functioning as the oldest statehouse in the United States. The City Dock is an engaging attraction that should not be missed - it's a scenic harbour that will enable you to enjoy the gorgeous views that surrounds you. The Barracks display an interesting collection of old furniture used during the time of the American Revolution, and William Paca House and Garden is a lovely complex that has been recreated to be exactly the way it used to look.
