The ski season is in the offing. Ski enthusiasts are now gearing up for the much-awaited season. A skiing holiday is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the “great outdoors” during winter. Consider a trip to one of the top skiing spots in Europe.
Zermatt in Switzerland is home to the Matterhorn. This car-free village with its narrow streets lined with quaint little coffee shops and bars is the top choice for a European skiing holiday. There are various types of accommodations from shared-space to luxurious hotels. The three major ski areas intersect where every conceivable terrain for different levels of skiers are available.
St. Moritz, Switzerland is the classic “Alpine” resort. It seemed that all old Hollywood movies with a skiing holiday scene have St. Moritz as the backdrop. Winter sports were probably conceptualised by the British at this place. Winter Polo is played here and the 351 km of slopes are great for intermediate and advance skiers.
Klosters, Switzerland is the Royal ski slopes as it is the preferred ski resort of the British Royal family. The place has none of the loud and boisterous crowd but offers a classy and quiet ambiance.  The skiing here is more “scenic” than challenging but its 11 kilometre run to Kublis village is worthy of an intermediate skier.
Cortina, Italy is the country's counterpart of St. Moritz. The cobbled streets and its picturesque houses and resorts are really endearing. No one skis before 11:00 A.M. Lunch is leisurely and after dinner walk is mandatory. The slopes are quite challenging enough.
Stella Ronda offers the best skiing challenge with its series of mountains that can be skied in a day.
