How to Go Green Whilst on a Cruise Vacation
We shouldn't just go green when at home or at the office. We should be environmentally conscious at all times-including when on vacation. Here are some good habits you can do to reduce waste and energy use whilst on a cruise vacation:
1. Reuse your towels.
A simple act of reusing your towels can do wonders in terms of trimming down your water consumption and reducing energy. Don't put your towels in your laundry if you can still use it again.
2. Bring a reusable water bottle.
As much as possible, pack a thermos or water bottle that you can use throughout the duration of your cruise. Restaurants on most ships have dispensers for both cold and hot water. Refill your bottle when needed instead of purchasing plastic water bottles over and over again.
3. Close the door.
Remember to close the door behind you whenever you enter or exit a room on the ship. The air conditioning is wasted and you are therefore wasting energy.
4. Turn everything off.
When leaving your cabin, make sure to turn off all appliances and lights. You may feel that leaving a light on won't make a difference, but it will. Saving electricity will allow you to reduce fuel consumption.
Of course, there are many other things you can do to reduce waste and energy whilst on vacation. Remember to go green whenever you can. The actions of one responsible person can go a long way.
