The Difference between Holiday Tours and Travel Packages

If you have been talking to the travel agent about your vacation plans, chances are you've been asked whether you are interested on ‘tours' or ‘travel packages'.  But do you really know the difference between the two? It is extremely important for every traveler to be aware of this difference as this could help you make wiser decisions for your trip.
Tours
‘Tour' in the holiday and travel world means a guided vacation. It usually consists of a group of tourists and a guide.  Tours are relatively cheaper than travel packages although tours often include everything you need for your vacation, from air tickets to lodging to food to the museum's entrances fees.
Travel Packages
Travel packages, on the other hand, are usually a combination of flights, transfers, hotels and care hire. Sometimes, breakfast is included but the usual vacation package will only rope in the cost, fees and taxes of your air, hotel and car rental.
So which is the better choice?
That really depends on the destination and your travel purposes. If you are planning to go to Paris or London, there is so much to see and do. In this case, a package tour with detailed itineraries will be very helpful. Each day you will know where to go and what activities await you; this is much better than wasting time figuring out the way to the famous spots.
If however you are looking for a tropical paradise where you can just relax and bath under the sun, you definitely won't need a tour that will force you to travel from one place to another.
