Discover the Wonders of the Dead Sea

At some point in your life, the Dead Sea has surely intrigued you. With its name alone, a lot of things can be concluded. However, this is the time to erase those false conclusions and welcome facts about it.

To start with, Dead Sea is not a sea but a lake. It is a landlocked mass of water that stretches for around 67 miles with a width of 10 miles. The name tells the fact that aquatic life cannot thrive here because of the extremely saline water it contains. The only lives it supports are those of bacteria and algae.

The wonders of the Dead Sea do not just end there. It has restorative properties, specifically its water and its mud. The salts as well as minerals from the lake are very well known to support the healing of joint pain, skin ailments, and a lot of other diseases. In fact, there are various skin care products as well as fertilizers that are manufactured containing both the salt and mud from the lake.

Besides these healing contributions, a lot of people find great joy in one experience they encounter in the waters of the Dead Sea. Anyone can float in the lake and even read a newspaper without being disturbed there.

However, despite the great wonders of this lake, scientists fear the possible extinction of the Dead Sea for the next 50 years. Since both Jordan and Israel are using its water for irrigation, the lake is receding for about 13 inches year after year.
