5 Ways to Stay in Shape During Holiday Travel

Many travelers find it difficult to stay in shape during holiday travel. Here are some simple ways you can stay healthy during your long trips:

1. Plan your travel arrangements carefully.

Choose a flight that arrives at your destination during the daytime. Make sure there is time for you to go for a walk or engage in some other form of exercise before going to bed.

2. Drink lots of water.

Whether you are traveling by air or by land, make sure to stay hydrated. Don't settle for the number of times the beverage cart rolls by.

3. Move.

Try to avoid sitting for long periods of time. As much as possible, stand up and walk the length of the plane and back. You may want to request for an aisle seat to avoid bothering your seatmate.

4. Eat substantial food.

If you are driving to your destination, it might be tempting to make a quick stop at a fast food restaurant. Avoid doing this, as much as possible. Eat somewhere that serves vegetables and something other than fried food. You may also want to bring sandwiches from home.

5. Bring exercise clothes.

Make it a point to bring a set of exercise gear wherever you are going. Engage in physical activities on a regular basis. You can look for a gym nearby or even go walking.

Just because you are on vacation, it doesn't mean that you are excused from thinking about your health. Follow these tips and you'll be able to stay in shape.
